MANILA, Philippines — Three weather systems will bring overcast skies and rains over different parts of the country on Wednesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In a morning weather forecast, Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja identified the three systems as the shear line, easterlies and the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan.

Estareja noted that the northeast monsoon will trigger cloudy skies with light rains in Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Quezon.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to the northeast monsoon.

According to Estareja, the shear line will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas from Wednesday to Thursday.

(It will remain rainy due to the effects of the shear line, which is the collision of warm and cold air. Scattered rain and thunderstorms may still cause flooding or landslides.)

The state weather specialist likewise said that the easterlies will trigger rains over the eastern side of Mindanao on Wednesday.

Pagasa reported that no low-pressure area or weather disturbance is being monitored within or near the Philippine area of responsibility.

“Possibly by the end of January, mababa pa rin po ang tsansa na magkakaroon tayo ng weather disturbance,” Estareja underscored.

(By the end of January, there is still a low chance of a weather disturbance occurring.)
